Hang Onto Those Specs: Can They Pull it Off?

The industry manufacturers have run into one interesting problem with their prototypes, however. When it comes to actually viewing the 3D image on the screen, the precise viewing angle for maximum optical entertainment is usually quite narrow. Most people must sit directly in front of the screen in the “sweet spot” in order for the picture to appear clear. Anyone outside of that span of view sees a blurry image that decreases the dramatic effect of the 3D thrill.

As the industry manufacturers have all been trying their hand at resolving this problem, some interesting solutions have come to fruition. For instance, the new 3D no-glasses TV produced by Sharp has approximately 28 “sweet spots” that provide a clear picture for viewers, enabling party-goers to sit almost anywhere in the room and see a mostly clear 3D video on the screen.

As the solution to this problem continues to develop, it will be incredibly interesting to observe how the technology progresses. Perhaps there will come a day when a huge party of 30 people can sit around a massive TV set and enjoy the exciting adventure of a 3D television experience without any blurring, headaches, or having to pass out pairs upon pairs of 3D glasses.

Shrink the TV? 3D Viewing on Your Portable Devices

Various industry manufacturers have come up with interesting plans for 3D technology developments beyond simply a television screen. Some boast that they will implement 3D viewing on portable devices in the near future. Numerous ways of accomplishing this idea have come and gone, but the newest development is the use of nanomanufacturing techniques to bring 3D viewing to portable devices.

While the technology is still in the works, it brings a whole new meaning to a 3D viewing experience with no glasses needed. We can anxiously look toward the future in hopes that we can, one day soon, purchase one of those sets for ourselves and have that personal 3D experience without having to deal with those pesky specs.
